The Yoga Lab – Arm Balance

Arm balances often look like a show of strength, but in practice, they are much more about coordination, timing and understanding how to organise the body.
In a regular class, there is rarely time to pause and explore these elements in detail. The Yoga Lab is designed to create that space.
During this two-hour workshop, we will slow things down and look at the foundations behind arm balances so they begin to feel clearer and more accessible.
We will explore how to shift weight into the hands, how the core supports lifting and stability, and how small adjustments in alignment can make a significant difference. By breaking the movements into manageable steps, the practice becomes less about forcing a shape and more about understanding how to get there.
There will be time to work with props such as blocks and belts, and at times we will work in pairs. Partner work can offer valuable feedback and support, helping you build confidence while exploring something new.
Arm balances also bring a different quality to the practice. They invite focus, patience and a willingness to try, wobble and try again. In that process, many students find not only increased strength, but also a sense of lightness and play.
This workshop is open to all levels. Whether you are completely new to arm balances or looking to refine your approach, you will be guided through a structured and supportive progression.
