Each year our bodies and minds come under the influence of the changes in our environment, caused by seasonal cycles. Although we might have some seasons that we favour over others, we should be able to thrive in every season.

How can we do that?

We can apply the wisdom and knowledge of Ayurveda – the science of life – and use Yoga to boost our immune system, balance the elements in our bodies and be the best version of our selves!

  • Do you feel a bit heavy and slow after the winter?
  • Are you finding it difficult to start waking up as the sun rises?
  • Does springtime spark your hay fever and other allergies?
  • Do you find yourself having a runny nose, congestion and itchy eyes?
  • Would you perhaps admit to feeling lazy and greedy?

All of these symptoms indicate that you are not yet ready to thrive this Spring.

The qualities of spring are warm, moist, gentle, heavy and unctuous. Owing to the warmer climate, everything that accumulated during the winter, such as excess fat, mucous, etc, starts to melt and wants to come out.

If we don’t help this transformation to happen with Spring cleanses and the right Yoga practices, the excess can get stuck and result in illness.

Spring, according to Ayurveda is a Kapha season. Kapha, which is composed of water and earth and has the same characteristics as the Spring: warm, moist, gentle, heavy and unctuous.

To reduce the excess Kapha in our bodies we need to:

  • Kick stated our metabolism
  • Ignite our digestive fire
  • Get moving

Come and join Geny here at The Wellness Hub to learn more about the right practices for Spring!
